Rug “Soft / Solid”

A rug born from molten glass

“Soft / Solid” explores colour in mouth-blown and hand-sculpted glass, created during a short glass residency in Sweden. A playful exploration of the nuances and similarities between liquid glass and textiles. I created objects that embody Kukka’s unmistakable style: graphic, expressive and fluid colour gradients.

The experimentation with glass colours served as inspiration for the development of a unique rug, guided by the interplay of opaque and transparent hues that effortlessly blend together. Read more about the project.

Everyday luxury, made for performance

This tufted rug combines a rich visual appeal with durable functionality. The surface features a Saxony cut pile, made of evenly cut, upright fibres that appear full and elegant.

Thanks to high-definition Chromojet printing, colours remain crisp and vibrant. The 100% polyamide pile offers excellent resilience, even in high-traffic areas. The felt backing provides extra stability and acoustic comfort.

With a pile weight of approx. 1050 g/m² and a total thickness of 9.7 mm, this flooring delivers sound insulation (ΔLW = 30 dB) and meets fire safety class Bfl-s1. Designed for demanding interiors (classification 23/33), it offers a high level of comfort (LC4) and is suitable for use with castor chairs (Class A).
