Colour inspiration can be found anywhere. For Confluence, it emerged during my travels through Japan. The palette draws from the subtle, layered tones of silk Temari balls I encountered in Matsumoto, hand-made objects where colour and geometry are beautifully balanced.
Confluence builds on a signature Kukka composition, first developed in murals and tapestries, and developed further here as a study of movement and colour interaction. Lines move across the surface, intersect and unfold, while gradients build gradually to create a calm, continuous rhythm.
The design responds to light and touch. As the pile moves, colours appear differently, adding a sense of depth and variation to the composition.
A study in balance between structure and softness, between graphic precision and a more atmospheric reading.
